Developing skills for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Ages 4 - 5 years (Pre-K) – Our Adom classes focus on the readiness skills needed for beginning kindergarten - academically, creatively, and socially. A variety of innovative and exciting activities are designed to help children build the readiness skills to take the next big step in their education.
Skills Developed:
Social – Empathy and understanding of the feelings of others, listening skills, sharing.
Cognitive / Emotional – Critical thinking, problem solving, self-help & self-esteem skills, using words to express feelings, fostering independence.
Language – Recognizing their names and other children's, letter, number, & sound recognition, oral language skills.
Physical – Fine motor skills, cutting with scissors, buttoning / zippering, play & exercise.
Daily Schedule
7am - 6pm M-F
Morning – The day typically begins with Journals, followed by free play and then circle time with stories. After a mid-morning snack, there's outdoor play, followed by either art project or small group language arts activities. We finish the morning with another story circle, then get ready for lunch.
Specials are also integrated in morning schedule - music, movement, gym, havdallah, Shabbat and show and tell on Fridays.
Afternoon – After lunch is rest/nap time, followed by free play, then a daily enrichment activity, such as:
Language & Culture - exploring words, phrases, cultures, and traditions around the world
Drama & Art - drawing, painting, sculpture, and theater
Food & Cooking - learning about ingredients and basic cooking methods, exploring new foods
Science & Math - understanding concepts like light, sun, and weather
Shabbat (Fridays) - learning Torah stories and re-enacting Bible stories
